About Shri Pardeshwar Shiv Mandir

Where Ancient Science Meets Devotion

Shri Pardeshwar Temple is a unique and spiritually significant temple located 3 to 4 kilometers from Pisadevi village, which is situated near Jadhavwadi Mondhya (CIDCO) in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, (formerly known as Aurangabad) of Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds a special place in the hearts of devotees due to its rare construction and divine energy. On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami in February 2005, the Shivpindi (Shiva Lingam) was consecrated at this temple. The temple was established with the vision of creating a powerful spiritual center where devotees could connect deeply with Lord Shiva.

What sets this temple apart from others is the Shiva Linga, which is made from 111 kilograms of pure mercury (Parad). In ancient Indian scriptures, mercury is believed to hold huge spiritual and healing energy, and creating a Shivling from it is considered extremely holy and rare. Along with the Shivling, the altar (vedi) of the temple is made from 151 kilograms of sulphur (Gandhak), another element with spiritual significance. Together, these materials are believed to generate a strong spiritual vibration, attracting thousands of devotees who come here seeking blessings, peace, and positivity. In fact, there are believed to be only 4 to 6 such mercury Shivlings in all of India.

The structure of the temple is inspired by the famous Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal, which gives it a unique design not commonly seen in Maharashtra.

Around the temple, you’ll find beautiful arches decorated with brass bells. On top of the sanctum (Garbhagriha), there are five brass Kalash (sacred pots) — the center one is 5 feet tall, and the other four around it are 2.5 feet each. These Kalash are built in a stepped design, similar to the temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath in North India. Unlike most temples where the Kalash is sharp and pointed, here it is round in shape, which is very rare.

At the entrance of the sanctum, on both sides, there are statues of Yaksha mythical beings with human bodies and lion faces. Though they look strong, their faces appear soft and humble, like that of a poor man. Right in front of the sanctum is a beautiful and grand brass Nandi (the sacred bull). This Nandi is in Karnataka-style design, which is not found in other temples in Maharashtra. It has lotus patterns on its legs, a turtle design on its back, and a Yaksha figure on its tail.

Above the door of the sanctum, there is a Varaha (boar face) sculpture — another unique feature that is not seen in any other Shiva temple. Inside the temple, there is also a massive bell weighing 75 kilograms. When rung, it produces a deep sound that resonates like the sacred “Om”.

The temple’s architecture and design are also unique, reflecting deep Vedic and traditional values while being different from other temples typically found in Maharashtra. Surrounded by natural beauty, the temple provides a calm and serene environment perfect for meditation and worship.
Over the years, Shri Pardeshwar Temple has become not only a place of worship but also a landmark for spiritual tourism in the region.

Spiritual Journey of Shri Shri Anand Giri Ji Maharaj

Creator of Shri Pardeshwar Shiva Temple

The beautiful and spiritually powerful Shri Pardeshwar Shiva Temple was designed and brought to life by Shri Shri Anand Giri Ji Maharaj. Creating a Shivling made from mercury (Parad) is considered one of the highest spiritual achievements. In fact, many sages and saints dedicate their whole lives to deep meditation with the hope of achieving such a divine task.

When Anand Giri Ji was just 13 years old, he began to feel a special divine energy within himself. After reading the holy text “Guru Charitra” near the samadhi (final resting place) of Swami Janardan Maharaj at the Daulatabad (Devgiri) Fort, he visited a spiritual teacher named Nimbhorkar Guruji. At that time, Guruji made a prophecy:
“You will build a grand and divine Shiva temple with your own hands.”

After returning to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) from the fort, Anand Giri Ji felt a strong inner awakening. However, it wasn’t until the age of 20 that he began to understand the deeper meaning of this experience.

One day, he received a powerful inner message: “Go towards the North.” Following this inner call, he traveled to Haridwar, where he met Pandit Ramnath Mishra of Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and received spiritual initiation (Diksha). Pandit Mishra was an expert in Vedic rituals and Yagnas, and he passed on this sacred knowledge to Anand Giri Ji.

While staying in Haridwar, Anand Giri Ji also studied the Quran under Kazi Anwar Miya, a friend of his Guru. Later, he had the divine opportunity to go to the Himalayas with his Guru and live in the presence of Paramhansa Guru Giri Maharaj.

In the Himalayas, Anand Giri Ji deeply studied various religions and spiritual paths including Hinduism, Jainism, Islam, Christianity, and Buddhism. With an open mind, he explored the core teachings of all these faiths. Surrounded by the pure energy of the Himalayas and blessed by many great saints, Anand Giri Ji experienced a union of spirituality and science. For 16 years, he lived a life of intense spiritual practice, detached from worldly life, and fully devoted to the divine path.

This deep spiritual journey laid the foundation for the creation of the rare and divine Shri Pardeshwar Shiva Temple — a temple that stands today as a symbol of inner peace, spiritual energy, and unity among all paths of faith.
